Introduction
Hanoi University (HANU) was established in 1959 and currently counts 17000 students and 700 academic staff. HANU has a strong international vocation with 10 foreign language departments, 12 joint degree programs with foreign universities and 100 exchange programs with foreign universities. 700 foreign students study in the Vietnamese Studies Department. The Italian Studies Department is very active, offering excellent preparation to students who will carry out the mobility in Italy. UNICAM signed in 2014 a Double Degree agreement with HANU to allow students of the BSc in Computer Science (UNICAM) and the BSc in Information Technology (HANU) to acquire 60 ECTS at the partner University (in their last year) and get both the degrees. This project aims at strengthening the cooperation by HANU and UNICAM at the level of student exchange, teaching and research.
Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) is a public university, established in 1997 in Ho Chi Minh City. The University is committed to Vietnam’s sustainable development of human resources and in 2022 ranked 1st in Vietnam and TOP 500 universities in the world by Times Higher Education. Currently, the university has 16 faculties, 15 centers for technology applications, 3 institutes, 55 research groups, 2 scientific journals, 1 foundation for science and technology, and several laboratories. The University offers over 84 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs with approximately 24,000 students enrolled. TDTU considers the connection with international partners an important aspect for its development. Various research projects have been carried out with nearly 156 international partners from different parts of the world. The collaboration between UNICAM and TDTU will be beneficial in terms of didactic with the opportunity of Vietnamese students to experience the Italian education system and in terms of research with the possibility to establish and on common projects in various areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) is a leading national University in human resource training and scientific research activities in agriculture and rural development. It comprises 13 Faculties, four Research Institutes, 12 Centers for Research and Services, 1 publishing house, and 1 associated company (Ltd.), with a current number of staff and students of 1,302 and 30,000 respectively. The Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FST) is currently divided into 5 Departments with a 40 staff members. FST has implemented 77 international projects, 56 projects at national and ministerial levels, 21 provincial projects, and 48 university-funded projects. Given this background and the expertise of VNUA in the field of microalgae cultivation and exploitation as a food supplement, it is strategic for UNICAM to build-up a new academic “jointventure”, where the two parties agree to pool their resources for the purpose of accomplishing specific tasks.
