Introduction

Italy shares strong historical, cultural, and economic bounds with the Latin-American region, especially with Argentina and Venezuela. Traditionally, these countries have a significant academic level and offer new opportunities for developing cutting-edge research programs in different fields including computer sciences, biology, veterinary, physics, green energies, geology, and law. Overall, UNICAM has signed more than 20 MoUs for research, teaching staff, and students' mobility with Universities in Argentina, both public and private. In addition, the University di Camerino holds the presidency (in the person of the Rector) of the Italian Interuniversity Consortium for Argentina - CUIA.

With the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) it has been activated a University framework agreement and a specific agreement with the School of Law, aimed at establishing a joint Postgraduate Course of Specialization in Contemporary Studies of the Americas and Europe in collaboration with the University La Sapienza in Rome (http://americaeuropa.sociales.uba.ar/).

The collaboration with the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) is in the areas of Law and Architecture. Regarding the School of Law, the agreement by establishing the exchange of teachers and students, has allowed the development of important collaborations. The research line will focus on the examination of the new Argentine civil code and some problems that have recently emerged in terms of citizens' civil freedom (Italians and Argentines). Collaborative relationships between the UNICAM School of Architecture and Design and Argentine universities have been active since 2008 with the workshop “VILLARD SUDAMERICANO”, an itinerant Seminar of Design that has crossed Argentina - Uruguay - Paraguay - Brazil, attended by teachers and students of the UNICAM School of Architecture together with teachers and students of numerous South American Departments. With this project, the research line will focus more and more on the relationship between Architecture and Tourism, in a comparative approach between the Italian and Argentine cases.

The cooperation with the Universidad Nacional de Salta (UNSA) will be strongly oriented to the area of research and education in green energy and water resources. Both students and researchers will give continuity to the projects funded by CUIA (2011-12) and the Italian minister for foreign affairs -MAECI- (2014-15), related to sustainable uses of the geothermal resources in the Salta and Jujuy areas in Argentina.

With the Universidad Nacional de la Plata (UNLP), a cooperation activity will be established to deepen the issues related to the Italian and Argentine ecosystems of innovation, offering effective and verified action tools in the field for the industrial dissemination of research results. Longterm expectations are to consolidate the relationships between the participating universities in order to promote the mobility between the two participating countries (researchers, technical-administrative staff, doctoral students, students), joint study paths, co-tutoring of degree and doctoral courses, and establishment of mixed spin-offs.

Reports and Pictures

- Outgoing Staff Mobility for Training, prof. Carlotta Latini, from UNICAM to UBA

During the second semester of the a.y. 2022/23, Prof. Carlotta Latini went to Argentina at UBA for her mobility for Training. The aim of the project was to study the issue of fundamental rights of Indigenous in a historical and juridical perspective. Prof. Latini partecipated to seminars, meetings, and interviews to indigenous group involved (es. Mapuche). She studied the role of the Supreme Court in front of the right of land (and the protection of fundamental rights). In addition, she visited the principal libraries and archives in Buenos Aires and also in Patagonia, in Neuquen. The mobility in Buenos Aires is part of a larger research that will be developed also in France and in Australia. In this particular case the value of the approach relies on the international perspective. It is also crucial to point out the connection between different research groups: the group of University of Paris Cité, Département d'Histoire du droit, and of the Melbourne School of law.

- Outgoing Staff mobility for Teaching and Training, prof. Gabriele Mastrigli and prof.ssa Maria Federica Ottone, from UNICAM to UNL

The delegation from Unicam arrived in Santa Fe on May 10, 2024, and departed on May 15, 2024. During these days, professors from the School of Architecture and Design, Gabriele Mastrigli and Federica Ottone, along with PhD student Daniela Perrone, participated in various activities.

- Outgoing Student Mobility for Studies, PhD student Daniela Perrone, from UNICAM to UNL

In May 2024 the PhD student Daniela Perrone went to the Facultad de Arquitectura Diseño y Urbanismo (FADU) at the Univesidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) for a short-doctoral mobility. The research project she worked on is entitled "Of work-based learning Schools in Rural Areas of Argentina to the School-Territory work-based learning in Inland Areas of Italy. The School and the Development of Its Architectural and Educational Models from the Postwar Period to Today."

- Outgoing Staff mobility for Teaching and Training, Prof.ssa Maria Chiara Invernizzi, from UNICAM to UNSA

The mobility towards the Salta National University is part of a collaboration that began 12 years ago between the Institutions for research projects aimed at the development of geothermal energy.
The main aims of this mobility, which took place in April 2024, were:

- Seminar-type teaching activities
- Possible research developments within the Doctoral project of Dr. Matteo Pedini.
- Meetings with the heads of the Faculty and the Course of Studies in Geology of Salta to evaluate the possibilities of exchange and recognition of university training credits on both sides with a view to joint study paths.

Incoming Staff Mobility for Training, prof. Ruben Filipovich, from UNSA to UNICAM

The 17 days mobility program aimed to provide training in fieldwork and geological data collection in structurally complex settings, focusing on the structural control of hydrothermal fluid circulation and reservoir development. Activities took place in Calabria during a five-day field school with Master’s and Erasmus+ students and Unicam professors, offering discussions with experts in tectonics and geofluids. In the laboratory, in collaboration with Prof. Invernizzi, research was conducted on fluid inclusions in travertines, with analyses performed at the University of Bari and an Erasmus+ student involved in the project. Additionally, new academic agreements were discussed, including a potential double-degree program. Finally, a seminar was delivered on geothermal energy in the Andes, comparing it to the European context and proposing strategies to accelerate its development.

Incoming Student Mobility for Studies, Master's Degree student, from UNSA to UNICAM

The student from UNSA attended first -and second- year Master’s courses in geology in the first semester of the a.y. 2024/2025. He focused on subjects unavailable in his home country, such as volcanic risk, groundwater resources, hydrogeological hazards, seismic risk, environmental chemistry, and geofluid reservoirs. He also took online courses on waste management and environmental sustainability, gaining knowledge on environmental prevention and remediation. Additionally, he learned to use specialized software for hydrogeological monitoring and seismic activity interpretation, including 3D seismic cube rendering. Outside of classes, he explored the region, visiting the Camerino valley, historic towns, and major cities like Florence, Venice, and Genoa. The highlight of his experience was the friendships he made and the cultural exchange, which deepened his interest in traveling and discovering more of the world.
