Introduction

The KA171 project with Vietnam takes advantage of the current collaborations within the framework of the E+ KA171/22 with 4 Vietnamese Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), which is leading to the expected outcomes. The new project aims to boost the partnership with HANU, a historical UNICAM partner, by ensuring continuity and promoting the partnership with Quy Nhon University (QNU), not previously involved in the funding request.

HANU, established in 1959, currently counts 17000 students and 700 academic staff. HANU has a strong international vocation with 10 foreign language departments, 12 joint degree programs with foreign universities and 100 exchange programs with foreign universities. HANU represents an important link between Italian and Vietnamese HEIs thanks also to the Italian Studies Department, unique in Vietnam. The latter is very active, offering excellent preparation to students who will carry out the mobility in Italy and it provides essential information before the departure. The bond with UNICAM is particularly strong with the HANU department of Information Technology (IT) which counts 30 lecturers and more than 90% of them hold Master and Doctor degrees awarded by international universities.

QNU, a public University founded in 1977, has 13 departments/faculties with 49 disciplines including pedagogical disciplines, natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, economics-finance, engineering, and technology, with approximately 14,000 full-time students. QNU offers 28 postgraduate programs (25 MSc and 3 Phd), representing a key educational institution in the South-Central Coast and the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Biology and Biotechnology fields represent the core of this cooperation, which started in 2016 after the organisation of a course for physicians and the visit of a professor to UNICAM.

Reports and Pictures

- Outgoing Staff Mobility for Teaching, Prof. Rosita Gabbianelli, from UNICAM to QNU

The Erasmus Teaching activity at Quy Nhon University, Vietnam, consisted of nine hours of lectures and meetings. The professor engaged in discussions with Dr. Tho Nguyen and Prof. Son Tran on research activities and potential collaborations between Unicam and the ICISE Center, a UNESCO-affiliated nonprofit organization. A Memorandum of Understanding was set to be signed between Unicam and ICISE. Meetings with students and young researchers focused on their studies, while a seminar on lifestyle and the epigenetic clock was delivered to faculty members. Teaching sessions covered topics such as early life programming of adult health and gut microbiota responses to food intake, culminating in a final lecture on nutrigenomics in health and disease. The visit also included cultural activities and a tour of the ICISE Research Center.
