PhD courses

PhD Programs (Doctoral courses) – regular duration: three years

In 2005 UNICAM instituted an international School of Advanced Studies with the objective of increasing the participation of foreign candidates in our PhD programs. The research training courses correspond to the University’s PhD programme - the third cycle of studies according to the Bologna Process, and to Level 8 of the European Qualification Framework (EQF).

The Calls for admission are usually announced between May and July on a yearly basis (www.unicam.it, section "Bandi", item "Dottorato di ricerca")PhD Programs are reserved for a limited number of students, who upon successful completion of their program receive the title of Ph.D.

PhD Programs normally last three years and end with a final thesis defense in front of a qualified Examination Board.

During their path, PhD candidates are expected to participate in both fields-related and transversal training activities, the latter ones are meant to acquire transferable skills (such as science communication, research management and project funding, OA, OS, IPR).   Geographical and inter-sectoral mobility during the doctoral paths are strongly encouraged, as to promote high-quality doctoral training according to the specific research projects PhD candidates are involved in.

PhD positions managed under special Agreements (double/joint degree or co-tutelle or joint supervision) are often available, as to offer further opportunities to PhD candidates.

PhD positions and scholarships that are co-funded in the framework of special Funding Programs or Agreements are available from time to time - e.g. MSCA, research projects funded under Ministerial Calls or ESF/Regional Calls, etc.
