Introduction

UNESP is the best case of a multi-campus in Brazil with 24 campuses located all over the country. The cooperation started some years ago through collaborative research carried out jointly by UNICAM and UNESP on the chemical characterization of propolis biomass from Brazil. With its dislocated structure UNESP offers a unique opportunity to exploit the country's rich biodiversity, diverse population, and robust healthcare infrastructure. The collaboration is now focused on the area of Pharmacy mainly in plant science, food science, gastronomy, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology, and analytical chemistry.

Outgoing Staff Mobility for Training, prof. Giovanni Caprioli and prof. Filippo Maggi, from UNICAM to UNESP

The main objective of the mobility program was to strengthen collaboration between the University of Camerino and UNESP São Paulo in research and student mobility. Discussions also focused on potential joint projects for European and extra-European funding calls. From a research perspective, They engaged with UNESP professors working on various topics, particularly in the study of Brazil’s rich biodiversity and medicinal plants, which align with our expertise in natural product research. A joint project proposal on infectious diseases within the One Health framework was submitted under the MAECI Brazil–Italy Cooperation in Science and Technology call. They also visited UNESP’s research facilities, fostering connections with Brazilian researchers and evaluating the possibility of sending PhD students for future collaborations. Lastly, They delivered two seminars: one on the research lines of Camerino’s School of Pharmacy and another on the analysis of phenolic compounds, volatile profiles, and antioxidant activity in Italian honey.
